question for all
Anyone here get shut out of this show? My Friend who I toured with a long long time and I were looking and looking for tickets pretty much all afternoon. NO sign needed at the Greek all word of mouth. As it got later and later we began to wonder if we were getting when Calico gave us both tickets and told we best get inside. This is not the show to miss. I wonder if everyone got in in some sort of manner?
We had heard that Dark star was to be played on this night. I like to think there was no way any of us on tour back then wasn't getting in.

Great 1984 show
The appearance of Dark Star is obviously the biggest deal about this show, but even without that legendary encore this was a great gig.
In the 1st set Jerry is RAGING during CC Rider 6:22-8:02. Bucket is one of the longest versions of the era, with the band jamming hard on the instrumental breaks.
As others have noted, the Scarlet > Touch > Fire, Stella & Sugar Mags are very hot versions too.

A Fine Greek Moment
I was at this show. Lived next door in the castle - Bowles Hall - part of the UC dorm system. What I remember is that, even though the Dead hadn't played DS in several years (anyone know how many?), the rumor started swirling through the crowd before Phil (Bobby?) announced that they were going to come back out and do something special.
Of all the shows I saw, this is the one where you KNEW everyone was trippin. When it was over, many of us wandered off into the canyon behind the Greek and tried to grasp what we'd just been through. It was a life-altering show...

Awesome Second Set!!!!
Love the story of the shooting stars, I heard about that story long ago, thought it was legend but it is true. What a magical night. Jerry was up for it, and the rest were like clock work. Stella Blue really stands out for me. Dark Star with the newer sound of the 80's, still kicks. and a meteor shower to watch too. Love it!! Peace..

Oooh! Aaaah!
25 years later and I vividly remember the night... I was up on the hillside and as the meteor shower started the crowd could be plainly heard ooohing and aaaahing in wonder... Insiders told told us that whatever we did we couldn't miss this particular show. They were right! Darkstar took us all away as the sky rained down fire...

What a great night--Friday the 13th, beautiful summer evening in Berkeley, the scent of the eucalyptus trees, the Bay Bridge and San Francisco all spread out and twinkling behind the band. After the second set, a long pause, then Phil comes out, tells us all to relax awhile and they'll be back out. Eventually a big video screen lowers, psychedelic images start swirling, and Dark Star happens for 16 minutes. Wow.
The Sunday show of this stand was pretty awesome, too, with the most gorgeous China Doll. Then on to the beach of Ventura...

Big Brother is Watching
We missed this show, whoever we did have the "SPACE DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE II" earlier that year in San Franciso. The T-Shirt's had DEAD engraved in the jet packs of the structual workers building the spacelab. Phil received a shirt, hence the Dark Star.
Great Show !
